Sallie Jones (Wendt)

Sallie Luree Jones Wendt of Phoenix, 70, died peacefully on July 1, 2018.  Sallie was born in St. Louis Missouri during the height of a flood. At Queen's School in Chester, England she received elementary education; she graduated valedictorian Roxana (IL) High School. Sallie earned a BA in Russian language and economics from Middlebury College and a C d'A from Rouen University in France. She spoke six languages.  Her most significant employment was with First Interstate Bank where she rose to VP Financial Consultant/benefits First Interstate Bankcorp, coordinating benefits for 11 western states. She loved skiing, hiking, camping, American Indian Art and Formula One auto racing. Sallie was a member of the Phoenix Formula One Grand Prix Committee from 1989-1991. She started in politics a Young Republican, then an independent voter and progressed to a committed Democrat. She worked on the Eugene McCarthy and John Andersen Presidential campaigns. Sallie was the supportive and loving wife of Bob Wendt, who survives her. Also surviving her are siblings Susan and Richard, and niece and nephew, Alleta and Forrest. A contribution to the Alzheimer's Association in her name, would make the family happy.
